Read MoreWriters Bloc is proud to introduce, with support from the Copyright Agency’s Cultural Fund, an entirely free online series of workshops for emerging and established writers alike to hone their skills.
We’ve secured Australia’s best and most charming presenters: Benjamin Law (The Family Law), Alison Croggon (The Bone Queen) and Patrick Lenton (A Man Made Entirely of Bats and Momentum Books). They’re going to be lifting the veil on the creative industry’s toughest topics from freelancing to grant writing to social media. With our webinars, all you need is a computer with a decent internet connection and you’ll be able to learn from our publishing industry experts.
We decided to create this series to support all writers in Australia and around the world. We understand not everyone can have access to writing resources due to financial constraints or because of living in regional and remote areas. We wanted to bridge this gap and provide a resource that will help the next generation of Australian voices shine.
We could not do this if it were not for the very generous support of the Copyright Agency's Cultural Fund. These three courses are part of a program of six webinars designed to help writers learn, no matter where you are. We hope you love them as much as we do.
In this course, Benjamin Law will share his secrets on how to get started as a freelance writer, come up with great ideas and get paid to write.
You will learn:
How to pitch to publications and sharpen up your ideas
Suggestions on how to generate ideas and suggestions on ways to research specific topics
Practical tips for freelancers building a career as a freelance writer
Alison Croggon will help you prepare the most impressive grant application possible with these easy to follow suggestions.
You will learn:
How to communicate the value of your idea
Ways to get referrals to help support your application
Strategies to unlock the keys to success for any arts grant
In this course, Patrick Lenton of Town Crier Consultancy and formerly of Momentum Books will give you a clear guide of how to:
How to use Social Media as a Writer
Find an audience for your writing
Engage with the wider reading and writing social media community
Check back in again soon to see three more online writing courses we'll be adding later in the year or signup to our newsletter to receive updates.
